“That said, the tangents and series of musical ponds the audience got to dip their toes in couldn’t have happened to a better crowd that struggled, at times, to hear the intricacies of certain jams like the ‘whisper dubstep’ segment over a ruckus of constant shushing.  But, unlike most other crowds, the audience achieved the initial goal that that first shush was intended for.”

“That record (Becoming a Jackal), as far as I was concerned, was storytelling at its very best. I had discovered another genius. Such compelling, entrancing lyrics executed by a narrator whose voice is both incredibly firm and dangerously fragile. Debates ensued, the enigma grew. I’m an obsessed fourteen-year-old music fan all over again. AWESOME. Then, late last year, Villagers put out a new song. Very different emotion this time: jealousy. How the fuck did he/they do it again? And better? ‘The Waves’, hypnotic song, hypnotic lyrics, hypnotic music video. Then came the excitement and joy at hearing the whole record {Awayland}. Those talented, mysterious bastards.”

The light in my heart is brighter for this experience.  Here is a portrait of Conor doing what he does best, bringing joy to others: 

 

The posted photograph is a portrait of Conor O’Brien of Villagers and Dave Hedgerman. A gracious gift of an evening of brilliance, kinship, and fire provided by the Goddess.  Here’s a lovely  Sketch by David Hedderman , and a beautiful video of the two of them playing  ’Out There’ together.  Filmed in Attica Audio (Donegal) by Sebastien Escalante, Gavin Lawson & Charlotte Reibell. In this post, I shall include a bit from my favorite author at the moment, Herman Hesse. The following is from “Demian” Chapter 6 Jacob Wrestling - “The things we see,” Pistorius said softly, “are the same things that are within us. There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself. You can be happy that way. But once you know the other interpretation you no loger have the choice of following the crowd. Sinclair, the majority’s path is an easy one, ours is difficult.” ~ Pistorius
